After his initial success, Bleek took a step back from the limelight. In 2009, he departed from Roc-A-Fella Records, urged by Jay-Z to establish his own path. This led to the creation of his label, Get Low Records, allowing Bleek to explore new avenues and mentor emerging talents.
Despite the hiatus from releasing studio albums, Bleek remained active in the music scene. He dropped mixtapes like The Movement in 2012, which garnered over 125,000 downloads on DatPiff, and continued to engage with his fanbase through live performances and collaborations.
The anticipation for Still R.O.C. intensified when Bleek announced a reunion with renowned producer Just Blaze. Their first collaboration in nearly two decades, the single “Durag Bleek,” released on June 14, 2024, blends nostalgic beats with contemporary flair, reminding fans of the magic they create together.
Bleek’s relationship with Jay-Z goes beyond typical industry connections. From their early days in the Marcy Projects to sharing stages worldwide, their bond is rooted in mutual respect and brotherhood. Jay-Z’s mentorship has been instrumental in Bleek’s career, offering guidance while encouraging independence.
