André 3000 Announces Absence from the 2025 Grammy Awards

Hip-hop icon André 3000 has announced he won’t attend the Grammy Awards tomorrow (Feb 2). He shared a heartfelt message via social media about his absence and the creative journey behind his latest project. The rapper and multi-Grammy winner is up for multiple awards this year, including Best Instrumental Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, for his groundbreaking release, New Blue Sun.

These Grammy nods mark a significant moment in 3 Stack’s career. New Blue Sun, a genre-defying instrumental album blending jazz, ambient sounds, and exploratory compositions, marks his first full-length solo project after years of hiatus.

In a personal note addressed to fans and collaborators, André expressed his regret about missing the ceremony: “Unfortunately, I’m not able to attend the GRAMMYs tomorrow, but some of the New Blue Sun musicians, friends, and supporters will be in attendance. Our album was conceived and recorded in Los Angeles with the spirit of openness and creative collaboration. We hope that the rebound of Los Angeles is swift and renewing. Congrats to all the musicians and collaborators being acknowledged. Keep playing. – A. 3000”

André 3000’s career has been punctuated by Grammy success. As one-half of the iconic duo OutKast, he has claimed six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2004. The genre-bending double album solidified OutKast’s legacy and André’s reputation as one of hip-hop’s most innovative minds.

This year’s nominations for New Blue Sun represent yet another evolution in his artistry, with the Grammys recognizing the project for its unique impact.

Released in late 2024, New Blue Sun is a departure from André’s past work. Featuring no lyrics, the album highlights his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and composer, showcasing tracks that evoke deep emotion and worldly imagery. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, and André has described it as a project born out of “openness and creative collaboration.”

André’s ability to push boundaries continues to inspire fans and fellow artists alike. Although some folks may be disappointed that André won’t grace the Grammy stage this year, his creative spirit remains alive and thriving. With New Blue Sun as a testament to his evolving artistry, his influence will undoubtedly resonate throughout music’s biggest night.
