Drake Gives Love and Money

Drake Gives Love and Money While on Tour in Australia

Despite all the drama surrounding his name, Drake is still wowing people, spreading love, and putting on for his fans. The Toronto rap superstar brought his Anita Max Win Tour to Australia, and while the vibrations of his beef with Kendrick Lamar still linger in the air, he made sure his energy onstage was intentionally positive.

During his stop at Perth’s RAC Arena, Drizzy blessed two lucky fans in the crowd, randomly giving them $20,000 each. The moment was caught by Australian hip-hop platform Take Flight, and just like that, two people walked into the arena as regular concertgoers and left with their travel dreams paid for.

“You guys are from Perth; I don’t know where you’ve been in your life,” Drake said, addressing the fans from the stage. “But for both of y’all, I’m gonna give you $20,000 each to go wherever you want in the world because that’s what we do out here in Perth. You gotta show love.”

It was a small but powerful reminder of why Drake is still that man. While the internet debates who’s taking shots at who, he’s making real connections with those who show up for him. And beyond the money, he had a message for everyone in the building.

“I pray to God that you’re healthy; I pray to God that you’re happy, but I promise you that everybody in this room is not happy,” he told the packed arena. “There’s a lot of people in here that might be going through some sh–, you know? … Maybe you don’t get treated right by your parents or your boss, or maybe you don’t have that many friends. Maybe your boyfriend is f—ed up; maybe your girlfriend is a little toxic. … I want you to turn to somebody that you don’t know, and I just want you to give them a hug [and] say something nice to them.”

Moments like this are beautiful to see in a time when rap beefs dominate headlines and negativity fuels the culture.

Along with making waves on tour, Drake is set to release a collaborative album with OVO labelmate PartyNextDoor on Valentine’s Day. Fans can anticipate some late-night anthems based on their past collaborations, including “Recognize” and “Come and See Me.”

Of course, it’s impossible to talk about Drake these days without acknowledging the other elephant in the room; his ongoing cold war with Kendrick Lamar. While neither side has directly taken the gloves off, Industry insiders have whispered about subliminals being exchanged, and Kendrick’s camp has reportedly been cooking up something behind the scenes.

For now, Drake is keeping his focus on the fans. He’ll be rocking Australia and New Zealand for the next month, with his final show set for March 16 in Auckland.
