After dropping the singles ‘Run It Up” and “Wassup,” Ciara has set the stage for the release of her eighth studio album, which has yet to be announced. Nonetheless, the Princess of R&B is keeping the #CSquad on their toes and fueling anticipation of things to come. In a recent interview, CiCi revealed her dream collaboration for a joint album, which includes rap kingpin J. Cole, R&B superstar Chris Brown, and pop icon Bruno Mars.
Dropping gems while chopping it up on Pittsburgh Steelers star Cam Heyward’s ‘Not Just Football’ podcast, Ciara, alongside her NFL hubby Russell Wilson, got real about life, love, and, of course, music. J. Cole seems to be the only surprise on Ciara’s wishlist.
CiCi’s admiration for J. Cole was especially intriguing. “You know who else I really love? J. Cole,” she revealed. “I think J. Cole does so good melodically with records, and he always tells a story in such a beautiful and poetic, but hard and dope way. So, I’m going to flip it and say CiCi and Cole would be super cool.”
And she’s got a point. Cole’s lyrical arsenal and soulful delivery could blend effortlessly with Ciara’s universal sound. Whether it’s an introspective R&B slow jam or a hard-hitting, rhythmic banger, their styles could complement each other in ways fans haven’t heard before. Considering J. Cole has been in his collaborative bag lately, a Ciara x J. Cole link-up isn’t as far-fetched as it seems.
Of course, the Cici x Breezy chemistry has already been tested and proven. Their 2023 duet, How We Roll, was a fan favorite, and their past onstage collaborations have only made the calls for a joint project spike louder.
“Chris Brown and I did a collaboration on my song How We Roll, and I think the fans really appreciated us coming together and jamming out in the visual,” she shared. “So, I think Cici and Breezy could be super crazy.”
Let’s talk about proven. “How We Roll” ascended to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart, marking Ciara’s second chart-topper on this list. Beyond its digital sales triumph, “How We Roll” made impressive strides on various Billboard charts. It peaked at No. 6 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, No. 7 on Hot R&B Songs, and No. 9 on Rhythmic Airplay. These achievements highlight the track’s widespread acclaim and radio appeal. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recognized the song’s success by awarding it a Gold certification, signifying over 500,000 units sold. This milestone further cements “How We Roll” as one of Ciara’s most successful releases in recent years.
So, with Breezy’s electric energy and Ciara’s hypnotic melodies, a full-length project could deliver a historic album for each artist.
Ciara and Bruno Mars have shared the stage and expressed mutual admiration, but they have not released any collaborative music to date. CiCi would love a joint collaboration, though insisting, “I also like Bruno Mars,” when discussing potential future projects. In 2018, Ciara joined Bruno Mars as a special guest on the final leg of his 24K Magic World Tour, replacing Cardi B. This tour also featured notable artists such as Boyz II Men, Charlie Wilson, and Ella Mai.
As Ciara wraps up her next album, fans can only hope these wishlist collaborations turn into actual studio sessions. Until then, all eyes are on Ciara’s upcoming album announcement because if she’s teasing collaborations like these, the project is bound to be next-level.
