Ye Throws Down the Gauntlet: Fresh adidas Drama Kicks Off 2025

via YouTube

Kanye West is starting 2025 with a bang, taking aim at sportswear giant adidas in a digital onslaught. In a characteristically fiery Instagram post on January 7, the Chicago mogul accused the German footwear titan of playing dirty with his independent Yeezy brand’s search engine visibility.

Ye didn’t mince words, posting receipts in the form of screenshots showing adidas’s Yeezy page dominating Google’s top spot. “Stop doing your moves to hold me back. Our partnership is done,” he declared, putting the $60 billion company on blast for allegedly freezing his accounts during their previous dispute.

The entrepreneur’s independent venture appears to be thriving despite the drama – Ye claims his Yeezy Pods, priced at a market-disrupting $20, helped generate a cool $100 million in just six months of operation last year. “We sold over a million pairs,” he boasted, adding that he deliberately paused operations for half the year to maintain control over his Shopify accounts.

In classic Ye fashion, he didn’t stop at adidas. Fashion designer Jerry Lorenzo caught some shells also, with Ye labeling him “corny and disloyal” over alleged creative similarities between Lorenzo’s adidas-partnered Fear of God show and Ye’s previous Hollywood Bowl event.

Looking ahead, Ye teased ten new styles he’s been developing over the past two years, though release dates remain under wraps. These drops are expected to follow his anticipated solo album, “BULLY.”

The timing is particularly spicy given the recent settlement between Ye and adidas, where CEO Bjørn Gulden had optimistically declared “Whatever was is history.” Based on these latest developments, that history isn’t quite as buried as adidas might have hoped.
