Lil Baby Drops ‘Wham,’ Proving He’s Still the Blueprint For Atlanta’s Trap Renaissance

The streets are talking, and they’re speaking Lil Baby’s language. The Grammy-decorated Atlanta kingpin has just unleashed “WHAM,” a 15-track sonic assault that’s already got the culture in a chokehold. Coming off his 2022 chart-dominator “It’s Only Me,” Baby isn’t just dropping music – he’s making statements.

The album features a who’s who of trap royalty, with Young Thug, Future, and GloRilla lending their distinct flavors to the mix. But it’s the closing track “Streets Colder” that’s got everyone buzzing, performed raw and uncut in Atlanta’s West End for From The Block platform, bringing it back to where it all started.

In true Baby fashion, he’s been playing chess while others play checkers. The rollout included a nationwide billboard campaign featuring Young Thug’s prophetic tweet “Whatever Wham Say Goes,” proving once again that in Atlanta’s rap ecosystem, Baby’s influence runs deep.

But Baby wasn’t content with just dropping heat through our speakers. December saw him literally descending from the heavens at State Farm Arena for his fourth annual Lil Baby & Friends concert. Landing on a submarine-inspired stage (because why not?), he blessed the sold-out crowd with classics like “Whoa” and “Close Friends.” The star-studded lineup included turn-up specialists 42 Dugg, Sexyy Red, and 21 Savage, among others, proving that when Baby calls, Atlanta answers.

To christen the album drop, he’s blessed fans with visuals for “F U 2x,” directed by Shaq Simmons, giving the streets something to see and hear. If the early buzz is any indication, WHAM isn’t just an album – it’s Lil Baby reminding everyone why he’s been running laps around the competition since day one.
