Strange Music signees Stevie Stone and JL are keeping it in the family by releasing their joint project Kontra-Band. The album’s title is a nod to the popular 1980s video game ‘Contra,’ which featured two characters running and gunning their way to the top.

Having worked with each other in the past, the two decided to embark on their musical journey together as a duo. Each one having contributed several gifts to the label — Stevie being one of Strange Music’s most consistent artists, delivering his fourth album Level Up last year and JL debuting DIBKIS in the same year, the collaboration came effortlessly.

Leading the Kontra-band tracklist is lead single “Groomed by the Block.” The track pays homage to the communities that helped raise them and groom them into the men they are today. The duo tapped fellow rapper PHresher to tell his story over the bass-heavy beat.

Kontra-Band is set to drop on April 20. The album features appearances by Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko and many more.
