Rapper Nelly is caught up in a real pickle. The “Country Grammar” hitmaker was arrested and booked on Saturday (Oct. 7) after a woman accused him of raping her in the state of Washington.
According to TMZ, Nelly was hit with a second-degree rape charge following the alleged incident, which happened at 3:45 a.m.
Nelly’s lawyer tells TMZ, “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation. Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”
Nelly also took to Twitter, writing: “Anytime you feel like the whole world is against you you need to scratch that shit its really you against the whole world because the whole world don’t know you exist.”
Nelly is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line, and the trek is set to hit Ridgefield, Washington this evening. It’s currently unclear if the incident will impact his appearance.
