Honda 16 Bars: Inspiring MCs Lotta Zay, Danny Myers, Swave Sevah and Real Deal Battle For Fame

Nowadays, it's hard to find rap artists that can paint a lyrical masterpiece in less than three minutes.

During a recent The Boombox and Honda 16 Bars event in New York City, the skill of spitting bars was on full display as four different underground emcees battled for a chance to win a 16-bar segment filmed for The Boom Box’s website.

Up and coming emcees, Lotta Zay, Danny Myers, Swave Sevah and Real Deal went toe-to-toe for the overall bragging rights. Co-hosted by Poison Pen, known to be the ultimate battle-rap ambassador, the four artists strived to be as ‘lyrically fit’ as possible, as Common would put it.

With a special guest appearance from Black Thought, of the legendary group, The Roots, the stage was lit as he ripped through a James Brown-inspired set with DJ J. Period. He was crowned as one of the best technical MCs ever to grace the stage as he performed extraordinary a cappella verses while pulling some tracks such as “Thought at Work” from the Roots album.
