by Talk show host Queen Latifah is opening up about an incident she was involved in nearly two decades ago that had her binge drinking.
The rapper and TV personality was the victim of a violent carjacking incident in 1995, which left a friend shot and clinging on for life. The incident, which came three years after Latifah lost her older brother in a motorcycle accident, was just too much to bear, and she had to find a way to numb the pain.
“(I was) drinking a bunch of alcohol, numbing myself. Every day I would be faded, like a painting that's just not vibrant, whose edges are dull. I wasn't living my full life,” Latifah told Good Housekeeping magazine.
As we see of Latifah today, she went on to channel that energy into a positive and uplifting career that includes music, television, and fashion.
