Kid Cudi Parts Ways with G.O.O.D. Music

On the heels of his upcoming album Indicud, Kid Cudi announced he’s split with his label G.O.O.D. Music, but there’s no bad blood, it’s all about growth. Cudi went to Power 106 with the news, and assured that after consulting with Jay-Z, Kanye’s manager Don C, and giving it considerable thought, the rapper felt his time with Ye’s label had come to an end.

“I went through a process where I talked to Don C and then I went and talked to Jay-Z and got their opinions about how to approach him about things that I wanted to talk to him about. And everybody gave me the blessing,” he said.

When it came to speaking with Kanye, Cudi said his boss was very supportive. “He got it because you know, he’s trying to start his new path and try new things as an artist and he was just like, ‘Man, I feel you as an artist. It’s cool, whatever.’” And he’ll still collab and associate with other G.O.O.D Music artists, it’s just that his former label’s logo won’t be on any of his stuff. “That don’t mean I’m not gon’ be making music with them. It just means that lil’ baby with that dress on ain’t gon’ be on my album,” he said.

The Ohio rapper will focus on his own label Wicked Awesome Records and his own artist, King Chip. “I don’t want to have a full label of artists. I just wanna work on Chip and keep my sound going on the Cudi train.”

Indicud will be released on April 23.
