With the increase of senseless murders in his home city, Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco pens a song dedicated to Jonylah Watkins, the 6-month-old shooting victim of a gang-related murder attempt on her father, who was changing her diaper in the backseat of a car at the time. Fiasco paints the picture of what her life could have been like were it not cut extremely short.
After the news broke of the tragedy, Lupe tweeted his frustrations of the story as well as the continued criticism of his outspokenness on social issues. “This is why I rant! This is why I speak out! This is why I sound preachy in my songs! I have no choice!” he tweeted.
