Andre 3000 Confirms Recent Big Boi Remixes Were Not Outkast Collaborations

If you were expecting an Outkast comeback happening anytime soon after the recent release of Frank Ocean’s “Pink Matter” Remix, featuring the Outkast duo â?? Andre 3000 and Big Boi â?? don’t get your hopes up. Andre 3000 has confirmed that these are not in fact Outkast collaborations, nor a tease for a possible Outkat reunion, and that he was unaware of the possible inclusion of his former rap partner. He even sent out a statement to SPIN magazine to get the record straight with his fans.

“It’s important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to ‘Pink Matter’ and ‘Sorry.’

I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi’s name came up.

I never want to mislead our audience â?? I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes.

I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn’t.”

As of now it seems “Pink Matter” may be the closest fans get to an Outkast reunion since their last official Outkast appearance on 2006’s Idlewild project.
