Pras Michel is suing the director of a 2009 documentary, claiming he failed to deliver the footage after production on the film ended. The former Fugees MC hired Marshall Tyler to shoot Paper Dreams, a documentary about Somali pirates off the East African coast, but alleges the filmmaker has yet to hand over the footage.
In the lawsuit, Pras demands the delivery of the footage or the return of the $70,000, monies he invested for production and traveling.
On the contrary, Marshall claims he is the rightful copyright owner of the footage. His rep told TMZ, “Pras is trying to assert ownership on material that Marshall owns the copyright to.”
