by It seems the Hip Hop artists who was slain in 1996 that went by the name of Tupac will live forever. He will live forever because he has been constantly memorialized through t-shirts, songs, holograms and many other things.
As previously reported, Shakur will be brought to life on Broadway in a musical. However, the plans for the musical have been put on hold because of a shortage of theaters on Braodway.
Kenny Leon, an accomplished director on Broadway, created the musical. He calls it "Holler If Ya Hear Me," and is waiting to premiere the show. Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shafur, has given her blessing for the musical, so it is just a matter of time before we get to see Tupac again.
Kenny Leon tells the Wall Street Journal, "There's a backlog in available theaters."
The musical will use Tupac's music to set the stage for a love story. Leon also made sure to include a very strong anti-violence message for the audience.
Kenny Leon seems very dedicated to making this musical a success. He said, "We had to have a group of actors that could sing, that could rap, that could dance – that could do hip-hop dance as well as straightforward Broadway musical dance. We had to have a good mix of 24 people who could do it all, but above all we needed actors who could tell the story."
