In this being the scenes clip, the DMV native takes a page from Marvin Gaye in performance style and music (via “Inner City Blues” sample), along with channeling “a whole era of black soul music” Wale says in the clip.
The video will coincide with the song, which documents Wale’s rise and the shade that comes with it.
