by Things just keeps getting bigger and better for the Maybach Music Empire. Label boss Rick Ross has moved the label from the Warner Bros umbrella over to Atlantic Records. This means Maybach artists Wale, Meek Mill, Omarion, Stalley, and Rozay will garner the same promotional power as artists like T.I. Wiz Khalifa, and Bruno Mars.
“MMG, we just merged with Atlantic Records. It’s the biggest move of the year,” Ross told Miami’s 99 Jamz.
Both Warner Bros. and Atlantic Records are owned by Warner Music Group, so a deal like this is a win win for the artist. “Atlantic and Warner have a beautiful relationship, so it’s nothing funny. It’s all beautiful. It’s getting bigger and bigger,” adds Ross.
There are plans to drops albums from all artists on the Maybach roster in 2013, including a sixth effort summer 2013 from Rozay.
In related news, Ross touched on his recent MMG tour cancellation, insisting he personally pulled the plug.
“I cancelled the rest of the tour [because] the promoter wasn’t really handling his business,” Ross says adding that their was “poor communication” between the parties. He adds: “The other day I woke up and realized two more dates had been cancelled, so I just felt like there was some power that I needed to take away from homie, so I cancelled the rest of the dates that I had arranged with him.”
As far as not cancelling the tour over the rumored threats from the Gangsta Disciples gang, Ross adds, “If I go to Chicago to handle my business like I did, I have no problem going to North Carolina or South Carolina. So don’t ever get it twisted. Ricky Rozay is a boss!”
